The postcards were designed for Hong Kong Christmas Event "Merry Balloon HK" in 2025 at West Kowloon Cultural District.
The Hong Kong Society of Illustrators was invited by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and Make It Loud Marketing Ltd. to participate in the souvernirs design project. As a member of the society, I was selected to illustrate 2 postcards for the collection.
The artwork were inspired by the Kai Tak district and "A Symphony of Lights".
For the Kai Tak artwork, the inspiration came from Castle in the Sky, expressing Kai Tak's former role as an airport. At the very top is the Kai Tak Sports Park; below it are Airside, Diamond Hill, and a red-and-green traditional Chinese gate with a plaque that reads 'Kai Tak.' Further down are Sung Wong Toi Monument and the Kowloon Walled City. A distinctive feature of this artwork is that it incorporates all seven colors of the rainbow—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. Besides being visually striking, it symbolizes the hope that Hong Kong's future will be as vibrant as a rainbow—renewed and full of brilliant colors.
For the 'A Symphony of Lights' artwork, it paired with various famous Hong Kong landmarks and the snacks that best represent the city. The composition uses orange-red as its main tone, radiating energy and vibrancy.
